U.S.-HONG KONG 2018 CONFERENCE : AGING ACROSS TIME AND CONTEXTS

The US-Hong Kong 2018 Conference: Aging Across Time and Contexts was successfully held on 19 to 20 May, 2018 at Esther Lee Building, The Chinese University of Hong Kong. We have around 250 registered participants. This conference focuses on how societal context and individual experiences interact with each other on aging process.

NCKU-CUHK Joint Research Center for Positive Social Science, the CUHK Department of Psychology, and the Gerontological Society of America joined forces as the main organizers of the conference, with the CUHK Department of Social Work, The Nethorsole School of Nursing, the Jockey Institute of Ageing, The Education University of Hong Kong and National Cheng Kung University Institute of creative Industries Design as co-organizers.

Heartfelt thanks must be given to the CUHK Faculty of Social Science, the CUHK United College, Office of Academic Links (China) and the Volkswagen Foundation from Germany for their generous financial support that made this conference a success.

We are glad to have 9 lead speakers from the United States, Germany, Taiwan, Switzerland, Hong Kong and Czech Republic including the President of The Gerontological Society of America, Mr. David Ekerdt. We also invited the Editor-in-Chief of two of the most reputable journals, Ms. Laura Sands (Innovation in Aging) and Ms. Rachel Pruchno (The Gerontologist) to host a workshop on how to publish in GSA Journal.

Upon the conference, the winners of Outstanding Poster Award go to (from left to right): Dannii Yeung from City University of Hong Kong (winner), Hsueh-Fang Wang from National Cheng Kung University (1st runner-up) and Maria Clara de Paula Couto from Friedrich-Schiller University Jena (2nd runner-up).
